Is mybuilder.com any good?

I don't mean are the people on there good - obviously they will vary.
The reason I ask is that I know some rated sites only accept good reviews, or the tradesmen carry cards they get you to fill out, keep and only send off the ones that are good and/ or doctor them.
Are the reviews on mybuilder representative or are they fixed in some way? Anyone know?

We used them a few years ago, reported two of the tradesmen, police involved the lot and my builder still let them use the site and deleted our reviews. Quite frustrating. We have had more luck with rated people.0

My Builder charge for the leads people put on the site.
It is a profitable site for the MB owners as each ime someone adds a job. The trade members who pay to be on the site, get the leads if they are willing to pay extra.
So £25 to join and £20 a month then depending on the budget you think you may need, the job is put out to offers. Then you pay a set fee per lead, then you get the posters telephone number and email. THEN the poster chooses which traders to quote. No limit to how many traders get the lead, so MB make lots of money.
The whole thing is flawed in that anyone can become a traders, set up a few jobs on line through his mates to post, get them to give a referral and bobs your uncle. They look legit.

I had a new carpet & underlay fitted, but had 4 doors that needed shortening.
Today I had my job done a joiner from MyBuilder.com.
I was bit apprehensive having someone stranger in my home but i have nothing but praise for young gentleman who arrived promptly on time, polite, and did very good job. He also cleaned all the mess. Also he charged less then all other 3 recommendations i had.

Hi OP,
I bought my first house this year and I found that it needed a lot more work than originally anticipated. My builder has been a very useful resource and I've hire quite a few people for various jobs. I didnt get all of my tradesmen from there but I found a great electrician that Ive had back a few times now, I got a great gas engineer as well. I'm about to hire a joiner as well.
I must admit I had some questionable people come round to my house, but its like with all of these things, use your judgement. My experience is that 90% of the people on there do a great job.
The biggest issue I've had was that some of my jobs did not get much interest, usually because all the decent tradesmen in the area have been booked up!
Hope this helps.Mortgage balance: £[STRIKE]79,061[/STRIKE], £72,400, £68,000 Feb 17
