It is Your Credit File that is protected, therefore if you move address YOU are protected.
Even after you pass away, you nearest and dearest are protected. Crooks do impersonate the deceased.
Personal protection is 24/7 all year. If a crook’s silly enough to leave their biometric trail then you can easily prove it wasn’t you who submitted an application for that credit card or loan.
Even if someone submits an application via the Internet in your name, you are protected.

As you can see the system described at www.freeidprotection.co.uk takcles many of questions asked on the BBC site and IMHO is more effective.
There is only one minor downside. If you do use the system described, your application may take a few days longer as applications using this system have to be manually processed. This in itself puts crooks off and is a small price to pay to prevent something that may take years to rectify.
The slight delay problem is something the industry could easily overcome and in fact making applications swifter and more secure.
Make the system work for you. It's your choice. Crooks don't have a choice if you sign up - a voluntary donation to charity appreciated.
