Bank charge for releasing ppi information

Hi All,
I have written to several banks regarding possible ppi mis-selling to me in the past and so far 2 of them have written back and said that they will not release any information to me unless I pay a £10 administration charge. Can they do this..? Is it legal...? To my mind it just seems like more banking rip off side stepping shenanigans and tricks to avoid the issue.

its not. you are wrong.
The data protection act states that requests for data can be made and that a charge of £10 can be levied. Seeing as you are asking for data that has already been supplied to you once, it is not unreasonable to be charged again.
Plus, you request for data has nothing to do with making a PPI complaint. So, you shouldnt mix the two things up.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
