cost of a return

I bought 3 lovely ties from Hermes of Old Bond St yesterday at a considerable cost. When I got home I found that one of them had a mark in the material - like an indent. This is not just a fold as it is still there this morning. I phoned and arranged that I go back and exchange the tie next week. But who pays for my time and travel - its a one hour each way train ride? Hermes say that they do not pay those costs.

If you're serious, which I have my doubts about, then this is the obvious answer:

They actually aren't that expensive at about £140. The OP is incorrect though - the store is in New Bond Street, not Old Bond Street. The tie probably just needs a blast of steam to remove the indentation.0 -
OH bought a new tie for a recent wedding and it had some indents from the plastic clips used to hold it in position in the packaging. As LilElvis said a quick steam got them out and there is no way to tell where they had been.0

My comment regarding the price was in regard to agrinnall's post which implied that the OP was a troll as he did not believe that someone would shop in Hermes. I did say that ties there are not that expensive but perhaps should have expanded to say that this was compared to the general public perception of the brand which usually focuses on the many thousands it can cost to purchase one of their Birkin bags. On joining this site I don't recall having to confirm that I am mired in debt/claiming benefits/earning the minimum wage. I believe that someone has as much right to ask forum members about their rights to return faulty goods to Hermes as Sports Direct/Next/M&S or any other high street store - consumer law is the same for all.0 -

That wasn't my implication at all. What I didn't believe was that anyone would be daft enough to travel into London and back to return a tie that could just be popped in the mail, hence my link to Special Delivery.0 -

My apologies. And I would also expect that a store like this would have offered to bear the cost of the postage, though not the rail fare and charge for 'time' that the OP feels is appropriate. I do expect that some may feel that even my more moderate expectation would be overly excessive

I spend about £5 each from a charity shop.
Ok, most of mine are used, but so what?
