Hi,
I asked HSBC to check if I had a PPI claim. They offered me £2,240.62 for a load I had taken out. I queried if this was for every loan I'd had since I started banking with them in 1998. They said no it was just for the latest loan and they would only look back 6 years.
Is his right? I've had quite a few loans in the 16 years I've been with them. Can I ask them to investigate further?
And NatWest are just giving me the run around. I've spent months providing details to them only to then receive a letter from RBS and having to start all over again. I'm seriously considering a reclaim company as I've lost the will!
Any help and advice gratefully received.

If you complain about previous years, as you have, then they will have to look back as far as their records exist. If their records only go back 6 years then that is as far back as they can go. If they exist longer then they have to consider them.
if you dont believe they dont have records then you can spend £10 and do a DSAR. That will give you copies of what they have on you.I'm seriously considering a reclaim company as I've lost the will!
you do realise that the claims company use the same process you do and would get the same issues.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Using a claims company will not magic up records which no longer exist or induce RBS to act any differently than they have done. If you are eventually successful, the Claims Company will take a third of your redress (plus VAT) for doing nothing you have not done already alone (and can easily do again).I'm seriously considering a reclaim company as I've lost the will!
If you don't believe HSBC about their records, you can send them a Subject Access Request (SAR) letter. There is an excellent template here;
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/1475553
It will cost you £10; which you enclose with the letter in the form of a cheque.0
