Hastings Direct Car Insurance

All I can say is when I had a cracked window a few years ago, I rang the dedicated windscreen number on my insurers (Direct Line) web site which was actually Autoglass who came and had a look next day. Took them 3 days to source a windscreen, understandable as it wasn't a common car.
I paid the £70 excess direct to the fitter who showed me the £800 bill from Peugeot for the screen. Never had to complete a form or anything, just sign the job sheet at the end. My son had a similar experience with Aviva

[DELETED USER] I agree. I've posted about Hastings direct myself. Wouldn't recommend them to anyone.0

Very poor service when you need them: I am having the worst experience with Hastings Direct for my car insurance! It happened last week Wednesday 27/01/2016, it took 4 days for their approved garage not to call me, they received a quote from my garage this week Wednesday 03/02/2016 and they MIGHT update me later today with the progress of my claim. So this whole time no courtesy car. AVOID using them, it's cheap for a reason I wish I'd known before going to them.0

I had a prang last year. Last week I received court papers because they have not settled the claim from the other side! They ignore emails unless you persist. Will not renew wth them.0

Hi jsbach,
I'm sorry to hear about the accident - we're working very hard to clear through the emails and will be replying to each one, don't worry. In the meantime, our free claim customer service line is 0800 035 4260 should you need it.

Never had a problem when my car was written off it was sorted quickly it probably helped that the idiot who hit me was also insured with Hastings.
My only gripe is my renewal is always higher than the comparison sites but when I ring they match the lower quote so why not just offer the lower amount at renewal ?This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Usually you go straight to the windscreen company used by the insurer and show them your policy and pay the excess after which they fit your screen and they claim the rest back off the insurer. Unless Hastings do things differently?0
