Travel insurance. Home country!!

We recently had reason to claim on our travel insurance with a company called Globelink. However, as my handbag was stolen containing passports and travel documents before we left our home country we were not covered!! So this post is just to warn people to check the small print because if you are on your way to the airport and perhaps stop off at the services or you travel up to the airport the night before an early morning flight and go out for a meal (as in our case) and your documents are stolen then this insurance company do not pay out.

Have you made a complaint to the insurer? And if you have and it's been rejected, have you gone to the FOS for a ruling on whether the exclusion is fair?

Exactly. While I understand the OP's point maybe she's claiming under the wrong policy. What would she have done if her handbag was stolen when she wasn't going on holiday?

The household insurance might cover replacing passports etc, but very much doubt it would cover loss of the holiday. That's what travel insurance is for.
