SP to ovo switch problems
I switched fron scottish power to ovo in late march and have still to receive a final bill for the gas. Scottish power blame ovo saying the meter reading they gave them is too high, which it is. I've asked ovo twice to give scottish power the correct reading so the account can be closed ( I'm about £100 in credit). However the response from ovo was this:
As your gas is controlled by an Independent Gas Transporter, it can take up to 14 weeks before we receive the validated opening reading, which will be the same as your previous supplier's closing reading. Once the reading is received, if it is found to be out of line with previous consumption, we can look at raising a read dispute to get it amended. A read dispute can take up to 12 weeks to be completed.
I know that we are supplied by IGT but I don't understand what that has to do with them not giving the correct meter readings from March when I switched from SP? Also why do they mention it being the same as my previous suppliers closing reading as I always thought the new supplier gave my reading (from March) to the old supplier.
Can anyone help as I'm stuck in limbo between the two and can't get my closing bill and refund.

Did you not give meter readings and have a record of them as well .
Ovo ask for them in the EMail just before the switch .0 -
I did give meter readings to ovo when they requested it, but SP are saying the reading they were given is much higher. I also gave SP the opening read I gave to ovo, but they said they need it from them.0

I had this problem when moving from SP to OVO. SP woudnt adjust their Estimated final reading to the Actual meter reading, which I gave them.
Once OVO sent the opening actual meter reading to SP I received a new Actual bill from SP. SP wont take any meter reading you give and only react to what OVO provide to them.0 -
The problem is that ovo appear to have given SP a reading that is not the one I gave ovo, and is far too high. When I asked ovo to give SP the correct reading I got the jumbo jumbo in the first post.
We aren't talking a small difference either. I had regular online bills from SP and they picked up that the ovo meter read equated to me using 9 months with of gas in a week.0
