Morning all,
Today I will be feeding a hungry cement mixer, DH has at last decided to finish the 3rd patio. We have the Indian polished stone slabs but on re measuring we are 5 short so I'll have to order more
I've roasted a load of veg for dinner to go with pork steaks and new pots so just needs warming later as after cement mixing I don't think I'll have much energy to then start cooking.
HILSTEP, Pleased to hear you are on the mend and sorry to hear the sad news of your friend x
DUMPLING, Baby steps, take care hun. ((hugs))0 -
Hi everyone,
I couldn't wake up this morning and I feel very achey so I shall be taking it easy - I've learned the hard way that if I push myself to do things when I feel like this it makes things worse. It's very frustrating though.
TTfTM, I'm glad the marking is done, it was obviously a big strain on your DH.
Dumpling, be kind to yourself, it will take time, we still miss our last dog who died last August.
Have a good day.0 -
Hilstep, I so know what you mean about feeling like "me".
Thankfully I didn't need to have chemo, but I had a lumpectomy and 5 weeks of radiotherapy from which I was very badly burned.
So after having had to go to hospital 5 times a week for 5 weeks, I then had to go every day to have the burns dressed. I thought I would never heal, but of course I did.
Then one morning I woke up and it suddenly hit me I felt like "me"
I am very grateful and thankful for the treatment I received and the check ups I have, but it is also so nice not to be "messed about" with constantly, if you know what I mean.
I do hope you continue to feel as well as possible.
Much love

Morning all,
Dumpling - sending you a (((((hug))))
Hilstep - glad you feel like you againSad about your friend.
Windy and a bit chilly here today, and the sun is up there but it's very cloudy. Washing on the line.
DS2 passed his Car theory test this morning. He drove part of the way back. I wish I could feel less nervous when I sit beside him. It's not him, it's me, I like to be in control.
Treated myself to coffee and fruit bread for breakfast in Debenhams this morning. Well it cost less than looking around the shops
Have a good day all. Sausages for dinner, if I remember to take them out the freezer...0 -
Morning all,
Dumpling - take care - you,ve lost a member of your family and coming to terms with that will take time x
I,m on a proper downer today - family are making their views made over our small wedding next month, and I just want to stick my head under the duvet and stay there, we have a very fixed number of people we can invite due to the registry office rules and that has not gone down well.
Washing done, dinner planned, wine ready to open at a more appropriate time
Hugs to all xNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

Islandmaid,
I used to perform marriage ceremonies in a Register Office and obviously space is limited depending on the size of the room. Just tell them that fire regulations state only so many people may be in the room at one time, but they are welcome to see you come out (if that is what you want).
Please enjoy your wedding, it should be such an exciting time for you both
Much love and hugs

Its your wedding, if your family are being difficult over your decision then stuff them! My neighbour was seriously peed off when I got married. We invited only family and she wasn't happy that she wasn't invited. She didn't invite me to her wedding which really didn't bother me but it didn't stop her asking me to babysit for her on the evening of her wedding though. :rotfl:

Thanks ladies,
We will stick to our guns, so to speak, I think, no matter how much money you throw at these events, someone wouldn,t be happy.
The only person I want to be there is OH, as long as that happens all will be well
Our families arn,t close ie havn,t seen my brother for 4 years, and his wife is pee,d off that their not invited, i,ve not seen her since their wedding 10+ years ago - when we planned this, we knew numbers would be limited and we decided together that we want to share our day with those we spend our time with ie mostly friends - parents and my kids are coming that takes up 6 'places', the other 6 are our best friends, thats it for the ceremony, another 3 couples coming to after doo, including our 93 yo neighbors who help us as much as we help them - if we,d invited all our siblings and their children, we would have been looking at another 20+ most of which we havn,t heard from for years - grrrrrrr - rant over
Thank you for listening xNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

Well done islandmaid stick to your guns honey. They will either get over it or not. It's your wedding and you are right, the main folk you want there are folk you see and have contact with. The rest can just as my late OH would say 'Whistle Dixie'
:):)
When Oh and I married in 1962 we were so brassic we only had my brother and his wife as witness's so we had the smallest wedding ever. The meal afterwards was steak and chips and came to less than £20.00 for the four of us:):) My wedding ring which I still wear cost him £4.00 and I wouldn't change it for anything It reminds me of a time when we were both young and broke but cash really didn't matter or big 'do's or parties.Apart from my brother and sis-in-law my family didn't approve of my OH as he was 13 years older than me and my Dad said it wouldn't last three months, (I had only known him for 41 days before we married ) .Well we proved him wrong as it lasted until he sadly died just under 11 years ago and it was almost 40 years. So money and fancy things really don't matter its how much you love the person and if you want to grow old with them.I was very lucky with my OH as he made me laugh for nearly 40 years and that is worth more than any amount of cash.I wish you and your OH health and happiness for your future years, wealth if it comes is a bonus but laughter is priceless
I had a good day today i went to take DGS Henry to the orthodontis this morning and he has to have a brace bless him.But he was a good lad and never made a fuss. Then this afternoon I had the U3A monthly meeting and the talk was about Ordinace Survey maps and a lot more interesting than one would have thought:):)
Tonight I have just booked online for lunch for DGD Holly and I at 'The Restaurant on the Roof' at the top of Selfridges for a fortnight tomorrow as a slap-up meal before we go to the matinee of Billy Elliot. Its my treat to her for passing her degree and combined with her 21st birthday present.I fancied something totally different and a bit quirky. So she will remember it when she is an old woman:):)
just about to go for a freezer rummage for something for dinner.
Hope you all have had a good day
Take care all
