O/S Daily Thread Wednesday 9th July

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

• Good morning everyone :)

DH has finished marking/posting all exams for another year (possibly the last), it's great to know it's all done and it's amazing to see all the space back that they took up!

topsyturphy - lovely news that DGS is home x

Need to dash but will try and pop back later to catch up on news.

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or want them. Keep well and safe and have a lovely day.

Oh Buttefly Brain that is a beautiful poem thank you, I would like to repost it if that is ok.

I know that you must miss me,
By the tears rolling down your face.
But believe me when I tell you that,
I'm in a very good place.
There are meadows here to run in,
And plenty of rabbits to chase.
There are other dogs to play with,
To frolick with and race.
So please don't worry about me,
My spirit feels light as can be.
There's no more pain to plague me,
I'm young again and free.
And I'll be watching over you still,
of that you can be sure.
I'm your canine guardian angel,
And my love for you remains pure.

Thank you so much for all your condolences yesterday, it really means a lot to me and my family. I think my heart is actually broken. We put away his basket and toys yesterday and managed to find a good home for his food.

Anyway, life somehow keeps moving on and I need to think about my family and their needs. I am going to cook a spag bol for tea and tidy up a bit. It sounds sad but I can't bear to hoover up Sam's hair off the floor yet but I will have to as I have the crisis team coming in every day for me to try and keep me out of hospital and I need to show them I can cope.

My diet has gone down the pan but it will still be there in a little while when I am ready to focus again. So it's lots of tea and toast at the mo. I hope everyone manages to have a nice day. Take care xx

Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

DH up and gone to work stupid early. Greenhouse and plants watered. Load in WM.

Cloudy and overcast here, and the temperature has really dropped, breeze has a bit of a chill to it this morning.

Dinner last night was an easy fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg, we didn’t eat until quite late as hairdresser cut everyone’s hair. I did remember to get the beef casserole out of the freezer to defrost – so that’s what we’re having for dinner tonight, will make some dumplings to go with it, I’ll serve mash and veg with it too.

Work yesterday wasn’t very busy, only working until lunchtime today, then on days’ off and we’re going away on Friday morning so have lots to do this afternoon after work and tomorrow to get ready. I need to do all the normal chores too etc.

Keep safe and well x

Lemonbee Are you OK? x
topsy That's great news!

After me saying about my strawberry runners yesterday – I have done something different this year, I used pots instead of the ground  Will use pots from now on, they obviously prefer them. How do they know the difference? :D

My tomatoes are doing well, still very green though. Mr tru's friend gave him a bag of toms and a couple of cucumbers yesterday, very tasty. He doesn't have a heated greenhouse. Anyone else's toms ready yet?

I'm glad I was gardening in the morning yesterday, it rained all afternoon so I cosied up on the sofa with my crochet and watched Rookie Blue all afternoon :D

Today involves more crochet and gardening. I need to pick more beans, which will be fun because everything is wet from all the rain yesterday. The plants are about 4' tall and dripping so I'm going to get soaked.

Morning all,

all silent in my house this morning. No one seems to be in any rush to wake up. Don't blame them, I only got up because I had to.

Didn't sleep well last night. Things going round and round in my head. I couldn't switch off so I did a bit of reading which soon had me dozing.

Not sure what the day will bring so we'll see.

Bedding to be laundered and I might vacuum the beds as I haven't don't them for a while.

Onwards and forwards (but wishing this headache would do one),

have a great day all.

Morning all,
Dumpling, that's a beautiful poem, hope it gives you some comfort.

My DGCH were christened on Sunday. Beautiful service and they were so well behaved!:T

Heard today that a good friend has commited suicide in his classic car. He had a serious crash last year and I don't think he had really got over it.:A

I am feeling so much better. The chemo has finally gone out of my system, and I am back to being "me":T

Got a wedding to go to this Saturday, looking forward to it.

((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))) if you need them.
Have a good day.
