New Credit Agreement on Credit Report

Please may I ask for your advice. I used to have a store card through Debenhams and with a zero balance I closed the account and got rid of the card. In April 2014 I had an alert that a new credit agreement had appeared on my credit report. I had not taken out any new credit so was very confused. I managed to phone up the company (after finding out it was New Day) and they said they had just brought all the Debenhams store cards from Santander.
They confirmed over the phone that the account had been closed in October 2012, so I should not worry about it. However, I am not happy that a new credit has appeared on my report. Should I contact New Day and request them to close the account and cancel the credit agreement? I am aware that it will still be on my credit report until 2018, or will it now be six years from this year?
Thank you for reading!

On your credit report is it just that the santander account has disappeared and the exactly the same account is showing but under the name newday? I.e. does the account still show it was opened in xyear and closed in October 2012?
If so then it will still drop off in October 18 and should make no difference to your file/ability to get credit at all.
If it shows the account was closed on a later date then ask them to correct it.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Thanks for your reply Tixy!
The wording is that the Santander Credit Agreement has been deleted and the New Day Credit Agreement is New (even though it just shows the company number, not the actual name of the company!). It was thanks to MSE that I saw it was New Day!
I don't have access to see the actual credit report, but may try and call New Day again and ask them to the closure date.0 -
If you subscribe to a service that informs you of new credit agreements on your credit file that service must also allow you to see your credit file?A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0

be equifax alerts, they dont show you the report. sounds like they have just updated the details and todo this they have to remove and re-ad but the file details apart from name will be the same.Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0
