PPI reclaims

I wrote to as many banks and loan companies that I could recall with a template letter. Every bank and loan company wrote back saying they could find no records relating to me, despite the fact I provided all previous addresses, and my date of birth. What I couldn't do was provide account or policy numbers which they have all asked for. Does this mean my attempts are now dead? I cannot believe that, the amount of HP or loans I have taken out and paid off there was no PPI attached and feel quite defeated.

The only way to find what's left is to send a SAR and £10 to each company. They won't give you info about closed accounts unless you still have accounts with them.
See the front page sticky for a template.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Problem is, if you're not sure you paid any ppi, how will you remember your reasons for mis-sale?Elphabawitch wrote: »I wrote to as many banks and loan companies that I could recall with a template letter. You can send a Subject Access Request (SAR) letter to each of these lenders. There is an excellent template here;Elphabawitch wrote: »I cannot believe that, the amount of HP or loans I have taken out and paid off there was no PPI attached and feel quite defeated.

Be aware that this will cost you £10 per lender, so could prove very expensive if they all return only the details you have already received.
In addition, note that PPI is simply an Insurance policy which it is not somehow "wrong" to have. In order for it to be refunded to you, it has to have been mis-sold.
What mis-selling reasons can you provide if you don't even know if you had the insurance?0
