Ugh, that B&Q Anywhere paint comes off like warm sticky chewing gum, the type that sticks to the bottom of your shoe...and that's with the heat gun. I dread to think how it would be with chemical paint stripper.

It's put me off the idea of water based paints, tbh.

I think I want an oil based finish because it will last longer and be more washable (I have small children with sticky/mucky hands). Plus I need to redo the skirting in the loo as well, I'm assuming that water based paints won't last as long in a steamy bathroom?

Vansboy - Your doors do look good.

Yes, I'd be going for white. If I could guarantee that the water based satin would be as good as oil based satin for toughness/wear/washability, the I'd go with water based.

I'm not sure, but i think the Ronseal stuff is similar to the zinsser 123. It's an all purpose primer & undercoat. But I can't afford to get it wrong as I'm on as very limited budget.
