Bless them - those newbies always ask the same old questions - what are the best comping sites? What are the best types of comps? I have been comping a week and haven't won, what am I doing wrong? etc... I tend to read, bang my head against the wall and leave without a comment....but Sax....nope he cannot resist leaving a comment!

We have all done it though, we have all asked questions that have been asked a thousand times before, but to a newbie it is a new question

Would a thread pinned to the top of the forum for FAQ be a good idea?

I must admit I did :rotfl: yesterday when someone asked "which comps gave you the best chance of winning", and someone replied "the ones you enter" :T

Yes, I agree - we have all been there! I was keen and wearing big rose tinted glasses when I first started out comping - thought I would have won my first ITV comp by the end of the first month and be riding around in a pink Penelope Pit Stop style car and own my own pet unicorn! But no!

I think comping can make you grateful too, sometimes the smallest crappiest prizes make you happy when you have tried hard for them...yesterday I received a tshirt of Macauly Culkin wearing a tshirt of Ryan Gosling, it really is pretty naff :rotfl: but it is HUGE so I will wear it as a nightshirt while I am sitting here at stupid o'clock trying to win something better.

The best advice ever is to enter the comps and forget them. :T

(I don't even enter the ITV comps cos I can never find them, and if I do I don't know the answers, I have never understood why they are not posted on here )

You are right Mansey! I've won a few small prizes that have made me smile like a pair of knickers that had a picture of a piranah fish on the front - with pointy teeth and a big grin on it's face! I actually donated them to a charity shop and couldn't help but smirk on my way out after handing them over to one of their little old lady volunteers!

I would tell people not to start, no point in diluting it further

Nope serious about not entering ITV comps, usually by the time I enter the dailies, regs, mags, c2w's, ect have a toilet break, eat, walk the dog, run around the house to pretend I have done a bit of housework, and watch Big Brother it is about 4.30am and my eyes are closing

Maybe there is a thread on here I have not found in the 18 months I have been here.:eek:
