Package holiday itemised receipt??

I saved a package holiday which itemised the exact cost of flights, accomodation, transfers etc. When I booked it, the holiday company told me the cost had increased. I have paid the higher amount but they tell me they are unable to provide an itemised account. I still have no breakdown as to where the increased price has come from

A true package holiday will only have a single cost.
A DIY package that you build into one booking will have the elements broken down.
It sounds like you have booked the latter, who have you booked through?
Many third parties have reputation for bait and switch, advertise something at one rate then when you try to book, the cost has gone up (in truth it never existed at the lower charge)
  • Thanks Caz, I booked through Sunmaster and the original price still comes up when I re-key the exact same holiday details. I suspect you are correct and the original price never truly existed. I still feel cheated!!

A package holiday obviously will have a price per element even if the tour operator owns all elements themselves. The reality however is that a breakdown is exceptionally rarely given as the whole concept in theory is that you can only buy it together - in practice I have booked just a hotel from a package company before. They also arent under any obligation to give you a price breakdown.

If the original price is still showing on their website it may be worth making contact with them to query and suggest trading standards may be interested in their tactics

You won't get an itemised receipt off Sunmasters cos basically they are con merchants. NONE of their holidays exist at the website price, it is there just to draw you in, then the price goes up and you think may as well book with them than start searching all over again. Read their reviews.

A similar thing happened to me too, the price had gone up when I rang Broadway Travel, so I didn't book. When I queried it they said that they were live prices so they had no control over them. However, I checked again the next day & the prices had come down even cheaper than the original one so I booked. I usually always do a few calls before making that final decision.
