Hiya Guys,

We've paid for our car to be fixed but a part had to be ordered in which they told us two days...it's now been over a week.

We feel like we are just getting fobbed of, today the guy is ill and no one seems to know anything about it or willing to help us (only asking if the part was in etc)

I feel like going in and just asking for a refund? Can we do this even though the part ordered was for us?
People don't know what they want until you show them.

If your car is in bits in their workshop, taking up a bay, I'm sure they'll be as glad as you when the part arrives.

If you take the car elsewhere to be fixed how long are they going to have to wait for the part ??
Cancel a lot depends upon the work already done by Halfords .

parts will probably come from the same distribution network if theyre using OE parts (less if they're skimping out and buying pattern parts).

So chances are the next garage you take it to after you get your refund will have similar wait times.

my hunch is someone damaged your car at the garage so they are trying to fix it. LOL.

as others have said, it depends what they are waiting for, it is entirely possible that if its an obscure part, they will have to wait, and if your car is semi dismantled, they will want it in and out as much as you do... tell us what the part is, and the car, and someone will probably be able to tell you if its a tricky one or not!

I don't know it is for a pipe which has a hole. Car is sat on our driveway as it is drivable (well it's not advisable to drive it but it will go lol)

It's more the lack of customer service...promise of phone calls to let us know and now no one seems to have a clue what is going off because 1 guy is off sick (surely they would have a system that you can check.)

Many garages will have a motor factors they buy parts off, in my ex works we carried the top 100 cars/vans complete exhaust systems in stock including manifolds cats and exhaust fitting kits. many other motor factors could source the part same/next day if obscure or a rarity.

we also stocked a variety of engine hoses by GATES (who are usually OEM suppliers), in many different sizes, and we also stocked some metal pipe work too for intercoolers on diesels.

If it is a main dealer part that is required, Halfords are not too hot to trot in finding out where it is for you.
try your good local indi and forget alfuds.
