Help with credit rating

Hi, I have recently checked my credit rating and have found a delinquent account from Barclays which was handed over to a debt recovery company. The debt recovery company also have this recorded on my file. Should there only be one recording of this or should both be showing on my file?
This debt has been paid to Lowell which has been updated to my file however Barclays are still showing that the account is in arrears.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated

If the barclays account on your file has a marker to show it was assigned then it is acceptable for them both to show (and a potential lender would see this as only a single default on your credit file).
If the barclays entry does not have such as marker then only 1 entry should show and you would need to complain to get one removed.
Is the lowell default date the same as barclays?A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
No the Lowell date is different, I have spoke to Lowell customer services and they have confirmed the account has been closed due to payment, however they have also said Barclays have used a different account number to the one they are using. They have given me the details and they are all the same except for the account number.
This has me confused as I don't understand how the same debt can be on my record twice.0 -
In that case I would write to lowell and copy in barclays to complain about the incorrect default date on the lowell entry and that their account entry is duplicating the entry still on your file in the name of barclays and that therefore you require the to remove their entry from your file and to pass on the settlement details to barclays so that barclays can update the original entry on your file.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
