EXPIRED Tomtom Go Live 820 Lifetime maps £50

Reserved mine on Tues am having searched the London stores - turned out to be a small High St store in Ealing. No phone call so when I popped it today was genuinely surprised to walk out with my brand new, still sealed unit for £50

99% it wont be faulty. If you want it establish the actual condition and barter. Faulty for Halfords often means no box etc.

What a fantastic result. I went on my collections to stores A and Store B today.
Get to store A. I was expecting 1 satnav with lifetime maps and 1 who knows what depending on whether they give a **** about not having been able to find the 2nd satnav.
Received the 1st unit as expected still in a sealed box.
Good news they had located another box from "another" store they said.
I had a closer inspection. No internal packaging or manual. who cares.
Then I spotted it was not a 820M (M for lifetime maps) but a 820.
Much humming and hawing and I negotiate a price of £20 for the unit. Sweet. If I get home and find that the 1 year of free maps has expired due to it being activated as a demo I have been given tomtoms number to sort it.


Arrive at store 2 expecting boxed satnav with lifetime maps and one non-boxed satnav with lifetime maps with no accessories.
That at first glance appears to be what I have. They are also throwing in the £20 tomtom charger accessories pack to fill in for my missing bits.
However then I spot my boxed unit is a 820 and not a 820M so no lifetime maps grrrr. They phone up tomtom to check what the second unit is and guess what its is also a 820 with no lifetime maps. Also appears according to tomtom to be expired so is given a new activation for 1 year their and then.
I then proceed to show the manager my shop A receipt showing the 2nd unit at £20. He does not believe me and phones shop A.
After confirmation he sells me both units for £20 each sweet.


Now for the icing on the cake.

where lo and behold any 820 purchased in 2014 is eligible for free lifetime maps via a registration process.


So eventually I should have 4 complete units with Lifetime maps for £110 in total.
One for the wife, one for me, one for a pending wedding present and one (the actual sealed 820m) will make its way onto gumtree and I will be happy to sell for £110.
That's moneysaving

Just an update on this and the very good people at Tomtom.
All units were "reset" to new so Live updates is active for a year and map updates avaialable for 90 days.
Further to this Tomtom activated lifetime maps directly to all 3 accounts that were created and synced with the 3 units in question.

I urge anyone who got a unit in this clearence event to register for lifetime maps asap if they did not come with them.
