Well done trouty.
I got a call from Elgin store. Very clued up chap.
Located said unit easily which was ex-demo. Everything but box there.
He is calling tomtom tomorrow to get the appropriate key (or whatever) that is linked to this unit for the lifetime maps. Will search for packaging tomorrow. I have asked for a cheeky discount and will get feedback tomorrow.
The ease that he can get details from tomtom suggests that there should be no problem with store B doing the same with there kit that is a unit on its own.

Big thanks to the OP I finally managed to get my hands on one. :T

I got the same story as some at the store I had reserved one that it was returned faulty unit. But I was offered a supposedly equivalent Tomtom for the same price. This one only had an RRP for £99 but did have live maps, I was little hesitant as I really wanted the GO LIVE bit so SA offered to ring another store before I decided. They had stock so was reserved for me there and I went to collect it this evening.

Can't thank you enough as my old Tomtom was long overdue a map update and I have always been too tight to pay.

None in stock in London, but I managed to find one in Wales where I am visiting over the weekend.
Got a call from Halfrauds within 2 minutes saying they cant seem to find it. Hmm!! Not at all suspicious.

Store B called me this morning. Manager confirmed unit 1 in original packaging complete. Unit 2 not an ex-demo, brand new missing power cable, box and leaflets. He will supply the correct cable and can sell me the unit. Hooray.

Current update
Store A Reserved 2, 1 confirmed, 1 wait and see if a concession.
Store B Reserved 2, Both confirmed now. 1 without packaging.
Store C (Elgin) Reserved 1, Unit confirmed without packaging. Ex-demo so Tomtom need to ensure unit reclassed as new for lifetime maps.
Waiting on a call to 100% confirm all good.
I suspect I wont bother with this unit so if anyone wants my confirmation I can certainly consider forwarding it.

Well what a suprise.....Halfrauds Sutton Coldfield rang me this afternoon and guess what they said, in fact I told him what he was going to say before he said it. Yes amazingly the one they had in stock was the display model and was faulty.

They should not be allowed to get away with this! Grrrrrrrr
