Closing One Card and Applying For Another

Hi,
Just wanting to know if anyone has an idea of how long to leave between closing one credit card and then applying for another.
I paid off my full balance on my Halifax card yesterday and as it's now £0, closed it today.
I want to apply for the Tesco card giving 19 months 0% on purchases, but would prefer to only do so after the Halifax available credit has been cleared from my credit report. There should be no problem with my credit report, I just want to have the best opportunity of getting a reasonable credit limit on the new card.
I suppose I could pay to see my credit report (have previously used the free sign up), but if anyone knows how long it takes to clear, I would be grateful

It'd usually take about a month for it to update on your credit report. You could still sign up with Noddle for free to check your report, although you only get to see it updated once a month, or pay for your £2 statutory reports.
I doubt it'll make any difference to your application, unless your credit limit is high (£8000+)Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.
ALWAYS HAVE A DIRECT DEBIT SET UP FOR THE MINIMUM PAYMENT ON YOUR CREDIT CARDS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU PLAN TO LOGIN AND PAY EACH MONTH.0 -
Thanks - thought it could be a month.
Never heard of Noddle before, but checked it out and joined (although the random question of what credit card I opened in 2005 was tricky). Seems a really good deal.
My credit limit on the Halifax was just over £7,500, but I have a couple of semi dormant cards that I use occasionally, which adds another £5,000. So I'll wait until the Halifax clears next month.0 -
I think it could be longer than one month. Halifax don't 'close' an account until 30 days after a zero balance statement, so could realistically be 2-3 months before the CRAs are updated with the settled status.0

halifax are generally good for repeat offers in future on unused cards. That would be transfer only though0
