Paying for diagnostic fee twice

I have a faulty driver side power window that would be covered under warranty. When I called to book my appointment, the service rep told me I would have to pay a diagnostic fee if the work is covered under warranty. Is this new? I haven't needed work done in awhile and the last time I did, there was no 'diagnostic' fee. Doesn't 'parts and labor' cover finding the problem?

You say its 'months' since the last check and repair, so this is what appears to be another fault, so yes, you should pay.

BUT..if the fault is something related to the actual repair work they carried out, assuming they offer a warranty, then they should put it right, free and not charge a diagnostic fee.

But its essentially the same fault, I wasn't in the car first time they tested but the problem is intermittent. The problem didn't go away but the issue stayed the same until a couple weeks ago were it got worse.

Why did you not take it back the very next day if the issue was still present after the first "repair"?
Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit a wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it

You said in post #3 that "The problem didn't go away but the issue stayed the same until a couple weeks ago were it got worse"

So if the problem was still there after the garage fixed it the first time, why did you not take it back immediately?

They fixed the clutch issue, not the gearbox issue if you read post 1.

Warranties don't generally cover diagnostic fees..

What car is it? What are the faults?

What exactly were your issues that needed looking at. You say one was the clutch and one was the gearbox but that's a bit vague. What were your symptoms. And yes, another diagnosis fee may be payable. If it's an int. problem which is tricky to locate/diagnose etc. why should they spend hours and hours trying to do so for nothing. You pay for the time, not a fixed fee for a never ending period of time. Does that make sense?

Basically when the car went in for the first time, the technician took it around for a 10 minute drive. Then filled in a form saying the clutch needed fixing (which they did), no problem with the gearbox or suspension which there was but they said there wasn't. This cost me a grand total of £90 for 10 minutes of their time.

Am not sure whether I want to spend another £90 for them to say no sir, we cant see a problem with your car.
