Saga Platinum card for holidays - beware

in Credit cards
There's been a lot of advice given recently about the best credit card to use for purchases abroad on holiday and Saga came out close to the top as one which charges nil commission. As a regular Saga customer (and a recent shareholder!), I thought I'd apply. So imagine my annoyance to receive a letter saying they had turned me down (despite a credit rating of 98% and an annual income of over £47,000). On calling them, they explained it is because I have 4 or more credit cards! So even if you are tempted, be careful and don't apply if, like me, you have several cards so you can always take advantage of the 0% balance transfers or other deals.

Perhaps the reason lies in your last sentence?
Card companies have absolute discretion as to whom they supply their cards. If you have already 4 or more cards, a 'credit rating of over 98%' (whatever that is) and an income as exalted as you say, perhaps they think you don't need their card.
I see no need to 'beware'.0 -

Where did you get this information? You do realise that credit scores don't actually exist, as every lender has their own criteria and scoring system... which means you can be declined by one company but accepted by another.Capital One Classic Extra £2,450 [06-2012]
