Have the Car Insurance companies finally realised that people are on to their price hiking when automatically renewing our Car Insurances?

Had the shock of a life time when my Insurance company supplied an automatic renewal £22 "LESS" than any quote I could get online through the usual checks

OR is it a fluke, or a mistake, time will tell i suppose

Some companies price with a higher year one discount and renewals lose that discount (either straight away on first renewal or over a period). Others aim to be more consistent on pricing. Just different pricing models. Often influenced by their main distribution methods.
