MBNA - Don't want my money...????

My OH has a CC with MBNA, we've had it for years and years, but as we have only been making Min. payments it hasn't been going down. For the last year I have been paying it be DD from my bank account (OH hasn't got one) and after having my LBM in March, phoned them up to increase the monthly payment to a set amount. For the first time in years the balance seems to actually be going down!
Anyway, They phoned twice yesterday with some automated message, while I was at work. As I deal with all the 'money stuff' my OH didn't realise it was his card. I phoned them when I got in from work at about 8pm. First of all I was told 'your husband will have to do it' He has told them on countless occasions 'the wife does it' but they still won't let me sort stuff out without him confirming passwords etc...(which I have to remind him of anyway!) once through security I was told that the DD had been cancelled by the bank. I know there was money in there and found this strange, I then offered to pay with my visa card. She said ok, £130 ish . I queried this. I know for a fact last months DD came out no trouble, £130 is more than two months payments.
'oh yes, that will take you up to the 9th of August' she said. I'll pay August's payment next month, after I have been paid at the end of July! I'm not paying twice this month! I will still have to make a minimum payment for August.
Anyhoo...I told her to set the DD back up, gave her all the details..she read them all back, giving my husbands name.
'no' I said 'It's my bank acount'
'well you can't have a DD from that account, you need to go to the bank and have it changed to a joint account' What???
'You've been taking payments from MY bank account for the last 12 months' I reminded her
'Well you are not allowed to do that, tell your husband to get a bank account'
Since when do they not want my money? If they have my permission what does it matter to them WHO is paying them?
(At the risk of being flamed I may phone back up and see if I can speak to someone whose ..umm.. first language is English)
Now they want me to phone and pay them every month....from my account ..with my card...why not just automatically take it can save us all time and energy....
Deep breaths....will calmly phone them back up tonight..and hope I don't get the same girl on the line!

I find it irrelevant that the customer service representative's first language is not English, as it didn't appear that they didn't understand you.
Anyhoo...Is it possible to set up a standing order to pay them?Well life is harsh, hug me don't reject me.0 -
If you call in the evenings you will most likely get the Indian call centre again. They are not flexible and read off a script. Its not their fault, its the way they have been trained and what they are allowed to do by the credit card company.
Why not go back and send them a cheque every month. They dont care where the cheque comes from as long as they get paid.0 -
your hubby does not have an account? Open a free one for him. he never needs to use it. Just put enough in there to cover the cc bill and set up a dd.0
