hi im just wondering if anyone could tell me if im at the court stage? i have sent the letter that threatens court and i have recieved a letter saying they still think the charges are correct althugh they are willing to pay me 750 pound (my claim is for 1980) is this the time for mcol or should i send another letter refusing that amount and try to settle amicably???

Really the choice is yours. The templates and timescales in the main article show a minimum of time you should allow before going to court but its up to you how long you keep the second stage going for before moving on to a final resolution - such as court or the ombudsman.
You can carry on attempting to negotiate with the bank ad infinitum but at some point it will end in them issuing a 'final response' named as such and a suggestion to contact the Ombudsman. It is this point that is technically the point of no return. Some people have been successful with the Ombudsman, it is free and it costs the bank money to be investigated in this manner so its definitely a viable option.
