Options for moving my BT Junction Box

Hi all,

My BT drop wire comes into my front bedroom. At the moment it comes through the window frame and goes into a junction box on the top of the window sill.

This junction box is old, cracked, the top doesn't screw on and the wires are exposed. It looks something like this - http://thumbs4.ebaystatic.com/d/l225/m/mSxRX3PyFzwecS5DewccmIQ.jpg

From the junction box it is then wired into a master socket, again in the front bedroom).

I am having wooden shutters installed so need to move the junction box from the top of the window sill to the underneath.

Are BT likely to charge me for this, given that the junction box needs to be replaced anyway?

If so, how much?

Cheers.

These things arent used anymore. They normally wire straight to the master socket so BT wont replace it. They will rewire for you but they will charge. BT charge for pretty much everything once it enters your house. Even for cabling up to the master socket. As for how much i dont know but expect over a hundred. You would be better off doing it yourself.

They will charge you. Last time I had a move of their wiring in my property (everything up to and including the master socket is theirs and it is a criminal offence to move it yourself) it was around £130.

It's not very difficult to do yourself, but they will know if they ever come out to do work on your wiring again, what happens then depends on the feeling of the technician on the day (most might mention it but don't care unless you've seriously mucked things up).

    Cheers both.

My landline contract is with Sky, so would I need to call Sky to arrange for it to be moved, or call BT directly?
