London and Country Mortgages - Bad Service

Hi All
Anyone else used them? I spoke to a broker who i won't name here and took my details regarding a remortgage offer. Asked i sent 3 months Wage slips copies which i have done, 7 days have past i have left numerous voicemails and email's and not one single reply. Each time i call London and Country Mortgages i explain my situation and they just tell me the agent maybe busy

Anyone on here from London and Country Mortgages who has contact details for a supervisor or Admin ?

I had similar issues, ended up dumping them and going alone. Only went with the as im a FTB and quite frankly, clueless to begin with, they seem to be highly recommended from mse.

To be fair it will most likely be hit and miss depending on whoever represents you in the end. Theres alot of people in the same boat when it comes to L&C i should have looked into more beforehand but i pretty much knew i needed a broker and went with what at first glance seemed a highly reputable company. Probably swayed by the MSE article on mortgages.
  • Have you had an offer accepted? We found them a little hard to pin down when we were looking and getting an AIP but since having an offer accepted they've been great.
  • Just saw you're remortgaging not buying so my experience is probably not relevant.

Our experience with L&C was also horrible . It took 4 weeks for them to submit our remortgage application, it was riddled with mistakes in spite of asking them to correct repeatedly. Another 8 weeks for the mortgage offer to come through and after getting the statement with the repayment amount from our original lender, L&C informed us that the offer has been withdrawn (stating valuation too low - valuation was done prior to the remortgage offer). They wouldn't allow us to contact the new lender :(. In the end, we approached Halif@x directly and everything from application to offer to remortgaging happened in a week. So stay clear of L&C - so called fee-free service comes with quite a few negative points - the service you get is worth what you pay :(

We had shocking service from L&C. Seemed great on the first call, gave us lots of info on the phone, and emailed us lots of things including an agreement in principle. We decided on a property, and then had some questions before we put in an offer. We never heard from again, despite numerous emails and phone calls. Nothing. We gave up in the end, and had excellent service from a local broker, who visited us, held our hand throughout, and was a god send through a stressful time.
  • My experience was also very poor.
The first advisor was very helpful however the case manage I have been assigned to has been terrible. NEVER available on the phone, takes 2 days to reply to emails and clearly doesn't understand the most BASIC details of pay/BIK/tax or P60's. To be frank I was and still am shocked at their lack of knowledge.

In the end, I circumvented L&C, went straight to the Mortgage lender answered most questions over the phone (that L&C had either omitted from my application or got wrong). I only stuck with L&C as the rate they could get was 0.6% lower than going direct = big savings.

I suppose if you pay nothing, you get nothing in return.

Best of luck to others, cross your fingers for a decent case manager.

I disagree. Our broker was fee free to us, taking his commission from the Nationwide. Couldn't fault him.
  • Poor experience with L&C here too.

Opened my enquiry on 17th April and spent the required hour giving all my budgeting details.

After a follow up from them on 23rd April, i didn't hear a peep until I chased them up fully two months later.

I ended up getting things sorted with my existing lender, but i'd probably not recommend going with L&C if someone asked me.

That is how it should work..! What I meant was, that I personally paid nothing so in hindsight I'm not that surprised at the level of service.

I wouldn't totally discount L&C though as the rate they got me was quite a lot better than 2 other brokers I spoke to, with the same lender!
