Help Needed Fast About Terminating Lease!!

Hey all! I entered a Short-Hold tenancy on December 13th 2006 for 6 months...I have not signed a new lease, so I guess I am into a periodic tenancy agreement...well I now want to leave the property.
The small print on the Short-Hold tenancy states..."A term of 6 months commencing 13th December 2006 and on a month to month basis thereafter until a new lease is signed or 2 months written notice is given by either party"
What is the law around this? Do I have to give them the 2 months notice, or is 1 month sufficient? I am giving the notice later today (13th July) so need to know asap....thanks in advance! :T

Sometimes posts are like buses, you wait ages for one and then several come along at once

Thanks for your quick reply there...I still am getting conflicting impressions about whether I need to give one month or two months notice...I am living in Scotland too if that makes any difference? Thanks again... :beer:0
