Moving into house - do I have to initially use existing supplier
Hello,
I am moving into a new property in the UK (currently I live overseas) - is there any rule that first I have to contact the existing supplier and sign up with them, before changing to the cheapest later on?
Or can I directly contact the supplier of my choice and just sign up and everything will be taken care of (i.e. whatever company it is will deal with telling the existing supplier that they are no longer supplying the flat?)
Thanks!
Mark

The former-you are in a deemed contract with them from day one. Once registered for an account with them and opening reads are supplied, you can then commence a switch, which will take 4-5 weks.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

You will be on your deemed supplier highest tariff, but you don't have to pay it as you tell your preferred supplier the reading you took when you took over the house.
Take photos (with your phone etc) on the reading (including water) as soon as you get the keys. As the exitif information on the photo will prove date and if problems arise later.Do you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring0
