Good Morning All
dnms - Thanks for starting us off today and oops re: the kobo
Hi to all of the regulars and a BIG welcome to all the newbies, this is a really FAB thread with so many lovely, caring, considerate and supportive people.
Son's birthday today so should be a good day but feeling extremely down (mum is almost 80 and has been in bed for the last 3 days (totally unheard of) feeling and looking shocking - phoned to get Drs appointment and he told her to get in a taxi down to the surgery, I have since rung and refused, shes just too ill. My brother called over yesterday but refused to visit mum cos he didnt want to catch whatever it was shes got, other brother is on holiday but never visits anway - so I feel that everything is falling on me, hubby and son again as we wont sit back and see her struggling or alone, but can feel the stress affecting me and my body). Has been a manic morning already but waiting for a Dr to visit now. Todays little list:
What a lovely post, thanks for the welcome.
Sounds like mixed news with your son's birthday on one hand but your poorly mother on the other
She's lucky to have such a caring family in the form of you, hubby & son. Well done for standing up to the doctor's surgery receptionist (I assume) who told you to take a taxi! Hope all goes/went well today.

Hello all.
Late post for me as has been an unusual day. Worked at home and took some time out midday to watch the Tour de France. Bit more work and then pulled a few weeds out in garden, watered pots, sat in the sun chatting to hubbie. Just waiting for the chips to cook to have with leftover lasagne (not great for the waistline but I did have salad for lunch).
So sorry to hear about your Mum Ziggy. We've had our share of trouble with doctors receptionists over the years. Most recently one suggested hubbie could make do with a telephone appointment when he had pneumonia. Not sure stethoscopes work over the phone. Hope your son has a lovely birthday. Try not to get too stressed x
Trying not to think too much about money and just getting on with life - but not spending!
By the way, we have ended up with 20 bananas (I bought six and market trader gave my son a bag full). Hubbie is the only one in the house that can eat them...any ideas folks?
Have a good evening x0 -
Ziggy - sorry to hear of your troubles. Hope it's nothing too serious with your Mum, it doesn't sound too good. Try not to let the stress affect you too much. You really can only do what you can do, tho' it does sound as though your brothers could be a bit more helpful, forgive me for saying so!

Nothing to forgive at all, we all feel exactly the same and I am really embarrassed by their behaviour - we are all brought up the same, my mum (and dad when he was alive) treated us all equally and have given us everything they could. Before I had M I could do it all for mum and dad because I didnt have a family and they had kids to bring up, since having M its that their kids are grown up and now they have their oen lives to lead
Hubby and I were decorating and laying carpets while I was heavily pregnant while they stood and gave advice - at times I can laugh but at times like this I find it all too raw
What a lovely post, thanks for the welcome.

For once it wasnt the over-zealous receptionist it was a Dr - after speaking to a receptionist a different Dr came out and said there was no way mum should have attempted to leave her flat - she has a chest infection and needs antibiotices, lots of rest and an x-ray (at some point), so glad I stook to mu guns - even if it did make more running about for me and missing my new physio sessions.
Thank you all for your best wishes and kind thoughts - think I will sleep well tonight:oGoodreads 2025 Challenge :16/75
