Hi
I tried to get statements for past six years... They stated that I would have to pay for each month!
<O:p</O:p
Thanks to my husband, who was great!!! He went to my local branch and he told them "That they have made error of judgment... Under the freedom of information act. Within minutes a manger came and told me they were very sorry!!! Would I be willing to wait 5 days, I did, and got a phone call to asked if I would mind picking them up from the branch as they were very heavy to send through the post... I never had to pay. <O:p</O:p
<O:p</O:p
I followed steps 1 & 2 got the standard letters... Then, I got a phone call my hubby dealt with them... Then got a very interesting response in a letter... basically they admitted there was NO financial impact on the bank for going over agreed borrowing or unagreed borrowing... Customers would normally pay interest until the account got back to normal again... I couldn't believe it my bank had written to me and told me what Martin has said all along... They even put it into a letter Quote "To explain the banks position".<O:p</O:p
<O:p</O:p
However, they still refused to pay so I filled a claim on the Money-Claim-Online...<O:p</O:p
<O:p</O:p
NOT sure about the future whether the bank will close my account... I will sue for break of Banking Codes... Financial ruin... Suggest everyone else to do the same if it comes to it?<O:p</O:p
<O:p</O:p
BUT!<O:p</O:p
<O:p</O:p
The Bank never acknowledged or responded and I won on default...<O:p</O:p
<O:p</O:p
Why should we have to put up with poor behavior from our banks but, it's unbelievable that banks treat the courts with such a lack of respect... Like most I have never been in trouble of any sort... NOT even any driving points I don't think I'm lucky just honest.<O:p</O:p
<O:p</O:p
The problem is simple thirty years ago many people didn't need banks or bank accounts... Only a selected few. However, lots have change today everything is now electronic transfers... Even the post office and government pay us "Child benefit, Tax Credits, Pensions ect. So banks are now required by most and only few refuse.
</O:p
<O:p</O:p
O.k. we have all had someone say it's not the banks fault... And there will always be few who hate any kind of penalty though few would complain that bank charges were fair.<O:p</O:p
<O:p</O:p
It's also ironic that banks fail to respect the courts, but, use them to pursue individuals over fraud, poor banking... It's about time that the courts turned the tables on banks they shouldn't be allowed this double standard... <O:p</O:p
<O:p</O:p
This process has changed me... I feel sorry for all those who feel threaten by the banks they really are the bully's.<O:p</O:p
<O:p</O:p
The correct address which has been made difficult... Go for it!

Sorry to spoil the party, i have 2 questions, have the bank paid out now?
Have they asked for the judgement to be set aside?
The info you were given by the branch was rubbish to be honest. The charge for copy statements is always £5 per request regardless of how far back you are going. The address above is the registered office of the bank however the team that deal with charges complaints is NatWest Customer Relations Unit, Freepost NAT12685, Borehamwood, Herts, (post code is the bit that i don't remember off the top of my head).
Congrats on the win, they did pay out I take it?0
