What do you think of this? PLEASE HELP

I don't know whether I should be jump;ing up and down with joy or not!! Please tell me what you think. I know people hear are always asking for advice as to whether something is a scam or not and I don't like the idea that I too am doing that but I am - sorry! I saw this lovely idyllic holiday flat in tuscany - £99 starting price - for a week; the seller doesn't really have a history and I wrote to him prior to the end of auction asking if there were any other payments apart from housekeeping and nearest airport and checking the dates as they have one date in title and another in text; i also looked on the website it referred to and checked what else they were sellig - only another week, but starting at £199. Anyway, talked to a friend about it, and thought it would go up to about £400. I put a snipe auction in for £150 - just in case really, and couldn't believe it when i won it for £99!!

What do you think I should receive in return for my £99 - ie a voucher/map? I will pay by credit card as i have seen that recommended before. What do you think? Any ideas/recommendations? Or do you think it is a scam? Jaquie

I've no idea, it is so vague you could get anything...however, there is no postage chrge so I suppose whatever you get will be in an email form.

The seller had their telephone number prominently on the auction page and I note you phoned them, so what exactly did they tell you that you would get?

Personally I see this more as a sneeky invitation type auction, ie phone up and book direct, and the auction itself is very vague as although it shows the villa and surroundings it doesn't actually outline what you are getting. It might of course just be poorly written, but it is too vague for me.

personally I think you have got a weeks accomodation nice and cheap! I agree that the dates are different, but the home phone number is very reassuring. Do let us know!

Marvo, I do tend to be over cautious so you must excuse me sometimes. Having seen all those mobile phone scams where the item specifics are filled out as though there is actually a phone, I do not believe what I read unless it all tallies. However, that is not to say that this isn't a perfectly legitimate auction.

The fact that two different dates are shown concerned me enough. Also, the seller is now selling the same 21st July week on a new auction, so hopefully that isn't the week the OP wanted. Current auction number 160136642125 for 1 week starting 21st July but with a start price of £199.

The seller is also in breach of ebay rules by appearing to offer other dates 'off ebay' so may well get suspended at some point anyway which just makes things difficult. Also in the auction text it does not specifically say the buyer will get a weeks holiday, it is very careful to mention all the good things about the area, and how pretty the villa is, but does not say 'buyer will receive 1 weeks holiday etc.....' .

This could well be a completely genuine auction where perhaps the seller, being unused to ebay, isn't sure how to present the auction properly. However, there are enough niggles to make me a bit concerned.
