I've got a job interview tomorrow... UPDATE

If it's a structured competency based interview, then they will systematically grill you for specific examples when you experienced something and they will listen very closely to your answers.
These are questions like 'Give me an example when you had a conflict with a colleague and how you resolved it', 'Tell me a time when you had to analyse lots of information in a short period of time, how did you do this', 'Give an example of when you coped with change to a working practice, etc.
Anyone who hasn't prepared short, relevant examples in advance is stuffed. Half a dozen examples can be worked into virtually any question asked by shifting the focus.
But if its an unstructured interview where they really just talk through the duties in the job or your CV and you get to talk about how you meet the job spec, then it's much easier - you can simply hear the 'sell' questions (the opportunity to riff spontaneously on your attributes) and enthusiastically outline the general skills, experiences and qualifications where you meet or exceed each one.0 -
Oh and I heard it on a radio once but if asked to tell them about yourself, tell them about your work life first - apparently women have this tendency to talk about their family first2014 Target;

Thankyou so much everyone, it went really well and BigAunty this is exactly how the interview went, they went through what they wanted to do with this office (it's a second office from their main practice which they want to expand on), although it's a part time position l would be the first point of contact and the only receptionist/secretary there, but it doesn't worry me l know l can do that, and am flexible with the hours as and when it builds up. One incredible piece of luck.... I co-ran a business which we sold last year and this office of solicitors dealt with the sale. The partner in the interview was the one l dealt with and he remembered me so he knows my telephone and work manner. I think l may have been a bit cheeky with what salary l would like (they asked) but they did say they were finding it a difficult position to fill....
I'm going to hear from them Thursday after they've spoken to their partners, so I only have to have the jitters until then.:rotfl: Thankyou all again x
