Novice request for help for old loan PPI recovery

Hi,

I am sorry but I've been reading and reading the forums but I still think i need an idiot's guide to know what to do so please could some kind soul help

I had a loan from Alliance and Leicester at some point in the mid-nineties but I can't remember when exactly or any further details. I do remember, however, that it had PPI attached to it. I don't know the account number or have any paperwork

I think I was working for an agency at the time and so did not have a fixed income. I know my address at the time but would I have a chance to claim on this PPI?

I suppose my questions are:

1. Who do I ask for details of the account? Alliance and Leicester don't exist any more
2. Will they still hold the details from so long ago?
3. What do I do if they don't give me any details?

Sorry for what must seem like silly questions, but this all seems a little overwhelming

The only way to find out if there are any details left, and this is an extrememly long shot, since the older a debt was, the more likely the info has been destroyed, is to send a SAR and £10 to whoever bought A&L - think it was Santander
