Home Insurance Declined

I had home insurance declined upon renewal. Basically we submitted a claim. We had a home visit and were 100's of questions. We were asked of any previous claims and told him of the 2 as we we had renovations we had a leaky roof and shower leak which we told him of. We just enquired about a shower and were told we were not covered. Anyways we got a letter back asking they had done some enquires and the claim for the roof was put through whilst we were not living there and we were at my inlaws. They asked for their insurance details as they wanted to make sure that we hadn't claimed against theirs? They were on holiday at the time for a month so we decided to leave and withdraw the claim. I sent them an email and never heard anything back and assumed everything was ok. It was only until renewal we got declined as we didn't provide the information they asked. I would understand if it was a policy in my name.

Appeal by raising a complaint with them.
Assuming you go to buy insurance elsewhere in the meantime remember you most likely will have to declare this to the new insurers0 -
This happened a couple of years ago. I went thorough my work and it was through direct line. They contacted them but direct line wouldn't give them the reason. I left it as it was too much hassle as they suggested to go through financial ombudsman. I do have a new policy and have let them know what happened. It's just that their premium has started to go up and it would be nice to shop elsewhere.0

Do you think it might be too late?0

If you never complained to Direct Line, you have six years from the events giving rise to the complaint or, if later, three years from when you became aware that you had reason to complain.
That suggests you can still complain.0
