Birthday present for terminally ill friend?

Can anyone suggest a present for a 70th birthday for a very dear friend. What on earth can we do to mark the occasion?
Food and drink are out of the question. He is spending most of his days in bed, so taking him out anywhere is not possible.
His only pleasure now is watching cricket on television.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How about putting a lot of photos of family and friends onto one of those digital photo frames? I don't know how long you've got before the birthday but if you were able to collect and digitise some really old family pics that'd make a lovely gift. They call me Dr Worm... I'm interested in things; I'm not a real doctor but I am a real worm.0

If he has a favourite cricket team or player you could write and ask if they'd send a signed photo?0

Thank you for your suggestion. His birthday is not until the end of the month. The problem is that he is going down hill rapidly now and we are just hoping he will in fact make his birthday.0 -
It's a difficult situation, one I found myself in back in May with my Aunt. In the end I gave her two paintings my ex MIL did of my boys when they were 7-8. They're on her wall in her care home, she can see them, they don't require any effort on her part and were very much appreciated.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

Thank you for that Gleek. That is a good idea.0 -
Hiya, if visiting on the birthday - I would be tempted to stick a single cake candle in something like an empty small box lid.
Ask the nurses first. Light it and sing Happy birthday.
Or maybe not allowed.
We are hospital visiting too! so far have given...
lipsavil newspaper, a packet of wet wipes with flower stickers on, several creams, pck. paper hankies and small toothpaste. Soda water.
Perhaps you could make up a shoe box with birthday paper. Few silk flowers as fresh flowers are not allowed these days. The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0 -
