Moving a freestanding roll top bath - advice please...

Hi All

I bought a house and in the bathroom there is a Bathstore freestanding roll top bath. The taps sit at the middle of the long side of the bath. It's been installed about a foot away from a wall but with the taps not at the wall side, but on the outer edge of the bath. This is ugly as all the pipework is displayed but more importantly difficult to navigate to actually get into/out of the bath as the ends of the bath aren't easily accessible for entry.

I want to rotate the bath 180 degrees so the bath taps sit at the wall side. The hot and cold supplies run from the wall side with 90 degree joins taking the supplies from the mains under the bath and then up to the taps. The supplies are all solid copper pipes. The waste also runs in the same manner. Is this a case of removing ceramic floor tiles to reveal all the pipework, turning the water off, taking the pipework off, moving the bath, cutting pipework shorter now that the taps are wall side, replacing pipework, water back on and testing pipework, retiling? Are those steps correct? Also is there any issue with shortening the waste as long as the angles of flow are retained?

On a separate issue, the taps are Bathstore Bensham bath shower mixer taps. One of the taps has a continuous leak. I've isolated the tap and removed and replaced the washer but the tap still leaks. Is this a valve issue? I've tried to seek advice from Bathstore re the issue and parts but with no success.

Any advice on both these issues gratefully received. Many thanks.

Your plan seems sound. Have you got spare tiles to replace the ones you break when you get them up?

Thanks Crinkmeister. I haven't got any spare tiles but my plan is to carefully angle grind the grout out and save the tiles as I take them off. Then if any break hopefully I've got enough to at least replace those on view and put new (matched as close as I can) ones under the bath where they are not easily seen. That's the plan anyway!

If the tiles have been fitted correctly you have zero chance of removing without breakage
