Burtons Store Card "No PPI" are they lying??

Hi guys,

I've rummaged through several posts regarding Burtons Store Card and Santander Card PPI claims and there seems to be some difficulty claiming back PPI but also some successful stories.

I just wanted to put across my experience so far and whether any one has any ideas for what I can do next..

I was a student in 2008 when I took out a Burtons Store Card for £500 - "Sign the dotted line" was all the information I was given and I signed away.

I spent several years paying back the minimum repayments and eventually finished about a year ago.

I celebrated by cutting my card, ripping up my statements and tossing it all away…

Recently my dad had a successful PPI claim and I looked into a little more to find that Burtons was named/shamed for mis-selling PPI.

I phoned up to ask about it and all I got was..

Operator - "No PPI on your account"
Me - "Do you have proof of that I can look at?"
Operator - "No, your account is closed so we have no information"
Me - "Well you must have…you've just told me I had no PPI"
Operator - "No PPI madam"
Me - "I want proof"
Operator - "You can write to the following address and ask ****'

So I put the phoned down and thought I would try again

Operator - "No PPI madam"
Me - "I want proof, the woman I spoke to earlier said I could write to someone, how does that work? "

*Puts me on hold*

Operator - "Your account is closed madam so we don't have anything"
Me - "No..You MUST have something"
Operator - 'You can phone Genworth, your insurers and ask them"

I took a number but I'm yet to call…

I just wanted to check if it was worth pursuing? Is it right that they would have NO information on me at all? No proof that there was no PPI?

They said they could send me a confirmation letter but thats not what I want, I want an actual copy of something, a copy of the original agreement.

Would love to hear your thoughts guys!! PPI noob over here…

thanks!

.....Operator - "You can write to the following address and ask ****'....

    Seems straighforward to me.
... No proof that there was no PPI?....

You need to show that there was PPI. They don't have to prove that there wasn't, in the same way as I don't have to prove that I didn't shoot JFK.

Either the lender has records or they don't. A tenner and a SAR will give you the answer.

You'll never receive this for an account which is closed.

You send a SAR and £0 to find out.

When you do find otu, you complain to Sanatander if you did have it.
They will reject your complaint since it's pre 2005 and not regulated.
Then you forward your rejection along with another complaint to Genworth who may or may not uphold your complaint.

The dreaded typo strikes again. I need a spellcheck or the desire to proofread :)...or a new keyboard...it's one of those little laptop type ones, my fat fingers have trouble....
