It is fairly normal for B2B relationships to include "poaching" sometimes it is formal in the contracts sometime just informal on a P2P basis.
It could be that the conversation was deliberately done so others could overheard it would be more normal for that to have been private..
It is an issue for the more senior within the current employer to deal with if the line manager has exceeded their authority.0 -
In case anyone didn't mention it, you could, of course, sue for loss of opportunity and/or breach of contract - but I suspect you don't want to go this far? Please be polite to OPs and remember this is a site for Claimants and Appellants to seek redress against their bank, ex-boss or retailer. If they wanted morality or the view of the IoD or Bank they'd ask them.0

cultivate a relationship with the place you want to work far more productive.
That would also be actionable in law, of course - to blacklist an individual. I of course take your point, but sometimes companies rely on employees complying like you suggest. Sadly, however, doing so merely lets them get away with it again and again in future. Please be polite to OPs and remember this is a site for Claimants and Appellants to seek redress against their bank, ex-boss or retailer.
