Oh come on! Be nice - but be honest!!! Just say no, you would rather not lend the hoover anymore.
My neighbour is forever trying to borrow stuff:
Lawnmower - Our response: Sorry, it's not working properly
Sharp knife - Sorry, we've not got one, they are all blunt
Strimmer - Broken, etc etc...
Cigarettes - !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I could go on....
The best one was when she asked to borrow my husband! Don't know what she wanted him for, but I said he was busy0 -
Thanks everyone for the replies, I never expected so many.
Final straw today as I got my hoover back and emptied it to find it full of cigarette butts:eek: . We are non smokers and nobody ever smokes in our house. Now the hoover reaks of cigarettes.
I am just going to be honest and say that I hope she doesnt take offence but I cant lend it to her anymore as Ive put a clean, smoke free filter in it and would rather keep it that way.
Thanks again everyone.0 -

Ermmm - Viktory how can you tell her to be honest when you're not being honest with your neighbourI'm criticising you for this or anything I just find it a bit cheeky
You should never call somebody else a nerd or geek because everybody (even YOU !!!) is an"anorak" about something whether it's trains, computers, football, shoes or celebs:rotfl:

Good luck kezzI think you've made the best decision coz honesty is the best policy if you can face up to it  just it's not always that easy coz you still have to live next to your neighbours - some folks can seem completely normal but can turn into the Incredible Hulk over some minor disagreement
Let us know how you get onMC

You're doing the right thing. I'm all for helping out but that seems a bit much.
Re the lawnmower, Steel, is there another garden or home tool that would be of use to both you and your neighbour that you could buy and offer to share?May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
