Take it apart, clean up, apply mastic and put back together.0

Judging by the picture it will. You will just have to sit there and scrape it off. Either that or buy a nice new one (that's what I would do)0

You need a spanner big enough to fit the nut that is barely visible just underneath the sink itself. Turn it anti clockwise looking from below.blushingbride wrote: »Its a old sink I am not sure the waste will come out? How would I loosen all the old mastic? Is there a trick?
Thanks!
With enough force it should shift.
You probably don't need to clean the mastic off first but you could try one of the many proprietary sealant removers if a spanner won't shift it. That might not do a lot as most of the mastic seal is hidden between the waste and the sink.
The mastic will be relatively weakly resistant to a turning force and should break easily enough.
Clean it all up and refit it again with fresh mastic. If it won't clean up nicely then a new one is fairly cheap. About a fiver probably.0 -
It is nothing more than more than a standard DIY job. I wish that all house maintenance was as easy.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0
