That's what I thought ECoR1. DVLA site is still showing as no current MOT today. I have asked the garage to scan and send me a copy of the MOT certificate.
It is a small independent custom bike shop, do their own MoT's on site.

Really? Chances are they use a local test station.

I think there's somewhere you can check online as to whether a particular location is a registered test station, but I can't remember where. Maybe this?

Could it be caused by a delay getting the details copied from the DVSA website to the .gov uk website?

gov.uk only hosts the information sites, the transactional ones go through to the relevant agency - in this case DVSA.

My money's on the garage having not done the MOT yet, or having mucked up its entry onto the system

^ This. The primary record is the one on the computer, the "certificate" is merely a receipt. If it ain't on the computer, it don't exist.

Why not travel down to collect the bike anyway and tax it at a local post office to the garage?

Is it possible the MOT tester has typed in the wrong reg number?.

Whew. Thanks for the advice here. All sorted out now.
10.30 yesterday I rang the garage asking for the ref number on the MoT cert so I could look into it. Then whilst waiting for him to send it to me - Hey presto 10 minutes later I try the DVLA site again and the MoT is there. Strange I thought, but all fine now. Been to the post office and have a tax disc. Only needed to take in the V5.
All set now with a lift to go pick up bike tomorrow.

Wow what a lucky coincidence ;-)

Like the guy who visits his home town after 20 years away, and thinks he will try his luck with a shoe repair ticket he found in his wallet from way back when. He goes into the cobblers, who looks at the ticket and says "They'll be ready on Thursday."

I think someone forgot to do something, but it's all worked out so happy days.
If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.
