name and credit file

Options
I want to apply for car finance and was planning to check my credit record first. I use my middle name for everything that I can, including work, but have to provide my first name for some official purposes. Is this likely to affect my credit score, and will both variations of my name show up if I do a check? Thanks

Use the name you use for bank accounts, if you use a different name for the electoral roll you might have problems.

So long as you've always applied for credit and registered on the electoral roll using your full legal name, you won't have a problem. It's like saying a man called Robert can't get credit because his friends call him Bob.
Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.

ALWAYS HAVE A DIRECT DEBIT SET UP FOR THE MINIMUM PAYMENT ON YOUR CREDIT CARDS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU PLAN TO LOGIN AND PAY EACH MONTH.
