Trimming cabbage leaves

Hello, I have huge cabbages growing in my garden and the leaves are covering other stuff. Can I trim these leaves and eat them?
Thanks

I would not do that, personally. It might introduce viruses to the plant. Its annoying I know.

yes of course you can. I cut and use growing kale all the time. Cabbages are very robust. I would cut off the whole leaf rather than just trim a leaf

I have grown cabbages for almost 40 years. The main thing is cabbage white protection and root collars. I have never had a cabbage virus

I use diatomaceous earth if needed but I don`t get it much if I have enough space around the plants
