I think this reasoning is a fallacy of relevance, but I thank you for contributing.
Bouncy dog's comment is how the Insurer will normally view it when you ring to complain about the matter. Although many will give an exgratia payment to soften the blow of you paying back the missed instalments, especially if you're polite to the person you speak to.0 -

If you agreed a sum for the year, say £400 - then you pay £400 for the year.
You can't pay less because they didn't take it quickly enough surely?
You ordered something, agreed a price they have provided the something - the only thing in question is that they have extended you credit for longer than they agreed.
