Garden Summerhouse

Hi,
I've been saving and want to buy a good Summerhouse for the garden. I've looked at them on the Dunster House website and they look pretty good quality. However, I don't have any experience of the company of with summerhouses.

The website is http://dunsterhouse.co.uk/

I was wondering if anyone has:

1. Any experience with this company

or

2. Can recommend any other good firms?

Thanks for your help

Have used them and know many people who have also, as I live nearby 1 of their showrooms in Kent. They are expensive, but the quality and servive is good. The main reason I went with them as I wanted a bespoke size to fit into between some trees.

Ours came from https://www.shiregb.com via home base. It's solid pine tongue and groove which slots together like a jigsaw and is really sturdy. The only downside is It's untreated so you are 'supposed' to treat it before construction. We constructed then treated. Also delivery takes an age as its hundreds of pieces of wood which arent bundled together having to be unloaded. And its single man delivery too! But I am really pleased with it and so are the kids who use it as their playroom. I would certainly recommend their summer houses.
  • Hi, Dunster House have just completed the installation of a £16K garden office for us today. it turns out, that despite the installer assuring me the electrical installation had been tested out, it proved to be faulty and had a dead short somewhere in the cabling. As the installer had left when my electrician arrived to connect the installation, I tried to talk to someone in Dunster House to get a suitable person back out to me. Wherever I tried, I was told to email or write to customer services and that it was in my terms and conditions that they would only respond in writing. Regardless of how hard I tried to speak to any "manager" I simply got bounced in a very firm and off-hand manner. Dunster House demand the you pay in full prior to delivery, so, since they have all my money and apparently won't talk to me, I'll be interested to see how they respond to my email laying out the situation and requesting quick resolution. You judge whether you want to deal with them!

We were looking for a garden office back in 2009 and visited Dunster House. At that time we found them very expensive considering they did not treat the wood at all and the company didn't appear to offer a guarantee! Their buildings looked really lovely but my hubby said he didn't think that the building would last very long without the wood being treated regularly and that it should really be treated before putting the building together.

We eventually bought ours from a company called Pro Workshop (part of Reeves) who at the time were local to us. Can't post link unfortunately but put name in google and company should come up.
We bought a 10ft wide x 12ft long (internal measurements), apex building with 3 double opening, double glazed windows, and a double opening door. The roof had metal tiles, which at the time was an option, believe it is included in price now. The building had wall and floor insulation and most of all it had been fully dipped in preservative and the building's life expectancy is 30 years, according to their literature. It came with a 12 year guarantee at the time, but I think it is 10 years now. At the time they had only recently started to make garden offices, etc. We got an electrician in to install power to the building and added several double sockets. We added a 2kw heater as well. It cost us just over £8,500 all in. The building is used as my hobby room where I sew and machine knit all year round. We had a couple of minor problems with the doors sticking and they came out quickly and sorted the problem out, no fuss whatsoever. We are moving house and will be buying a bigger one from them as we will have a larger garden.

I know you are looking for a summer house and this may not be quite what you are looking for but I would think it would be worth a look. Although the prices have gone up, the buildings still seem very good value for money.

I will add I do not have any affiliation with the company just a very satified customer.

    Hope this helps.

First post on the website and your promoting a company, whether its intentional or not.

The Cynic in most people would question your motives.

Your reply is precisely why I wrote "I had no affiliation with the company" etc. It may be my first post but I thought that what I had to say might be useful to the OP. Admittedly I haven't posted since I joined the forum last year, but have spent most of the time reading the posts.

Talk about getting shot down in flames for trying to help someone. I will continue to read the posts but this is my first and last post.

To all you cynics out there thanks for the welcome!
