A distinctly laid back day for me today, but have still been 'keeping the faith' with a few little bits:
*Garden Centre visit - a Big Massive Temptation for Naughty Spending in the past, but stuck to the items required & paid from Household Piggy, so no
    impact on bank account :-)
*Did not stop off somewhere for lunch despite us being hungry. Came home & made it ourselves from stores. Oh yes!
    *Caught up with surveys.
*Wrote a task list for the coming week.
*Synchronised mr f's work schedule with our home calendar. Being organised saves us money.....just the little things like making sure packed lunches & breakfasts are ready on the right day to prevent us wasting money on bought sandwiches.
    *Watered & fed veggie garden.
*Ate free piece of cake with my coffee - doggy-bagged from an event yesterday.
*Looked out recipes for various things I want to cook this week.
*Knit. I don't seem to be progressing this project very quickly.
    *Read library book.
That's it. Kitchen day planned for tomorrow, so hopefully a good money saving day too.

2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
    2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!
  • Forgot to add yesterday that part of the paperwork sort out was closing a credit card that is not in use. Well none of them are but this is an old one with no balance.

Today hubbie said he'd do the morning dog walk. A LIE IN for me - could I sleep? No way. So used to getting up early. So I made a cup of tea, went back to bed and read the local paper, did a crossword then suddenly felt so tired I did manage a 30 minute kip.

Rainy again and I really wanted to work in the garden. Instead I finally updated our spreadsheet for June spending (have been procrastinating) and it was good news - a healthy credit balance.

If we want to achieve that again this month we really need to have a frugal two weeks. I have fallen back into an old habit of food shopping for a small army so it should be achievable.

Today I have made a huge pan of bolognese, used half of that to make a lasagne (10 portions) and will freeze the other half, and a big pan of veggie and lentil curry which I will chill / freeze.

The sun finally came out and I hand washed and hung out the 1 white shirt son2 has - he is back at work in the morning. I am hoping extra shirt will be delivered tomorrow but there are so many road closures (tour de France) that may not happen.

Hope you have all had a good weekend x

    My stuff..
Yesterday, swept all of ground floor of house with brush - laminate floors / tiles then used hoover once dust / pet hairs in nice pile instead of dragging hoover all around the house :)

Today, started digging over small part of back garden for use as veg patch. Also, checked all a/cs online and slightly re-jigged spreadsheet.

Plus, on Friday, picked up a used but perfectly good compost bin from Freecycle (Thank You kind person) which is now assembled and doing it's stuff in back garden :)
