Sorry hypno, no Pimms (or pimps, which was how I first read it!). No alcohol, unfortuonatley. Would be easier though as I could just get them all drunk and they wouldn't care about the food!

oh I see, thanks! I think you've got the second part a bit wrong but I'm not qualified to offer a better translation!
Good luck with the picnic, I'm sure your mother in law will really appreciate you going to so much trouble. I am reading this thread with interest as I have to do a picnic for my mother's birthday next week.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
You're right, it's not quite there, but it's as close as I could figure. The only other french phrase I know is "Pardonez-moi, mais votre cheval est dans mon salle des baines."

good luck with the picnic - I am doing a posh picnic too next weekend at an open air concert with friends. However, Pimms and Pink champagne will be on the menu too (I have loads of fizz from when I left "real" work - think they were all celebrating getting rid of me!) :TSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. Hypno, what do you do with Pimms to make it palatable? I have half a bottle which my Dad gave me when he clearing out his cupboards. Also half a bottle of Cinzano. Any tips welcome.
Sorry Pete for hijacking your thread. If you lived any nearer, I'd offer them for your picnic!Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Pimms with lemonade. Chop up some fruit to go in it if you have any, and some cucumber and fresh mint.

Mini quiches are my stand by. Make a load of short pastry and use various fillings...smoked salmon pieces (88p from sainsbury's basics) mushroom and parmesan, dried tomato and whatever, in fact whatever is cheap or you have in fridge or freezer. Veg and cheddar works too.
For a posh pud you could try fruit salad and creme fraiche or chocolate salami or meringue and take filling separately or a sweet flan. There's a recipe making a tart with olive oil (really) which I did once which was lovely and would be easy to transport. Also try googling for ideas.

I'm busy nicking ideas, we've got 14 for lunch in the garden (like a picnic but the toilets are more convenient) on Sunday.
Instead of Pimms, try Delias Iced Tea, it's very like Pimms (honestly!) but obviously non-alcoholic. Can't give you the recipe right now as I'm at work - sorry!0
