Being changed a Barclaycard Platinum

in Credit cards
Hi I am just checking something with you fine folk. I have had a Barclaycard for many a year, it used to be an egg card. I have just recieved an email saying that my card is being changed to a platinum card, as my current card is no longer available and I cannot opt out of this. I spent years owing £10,500 at 29.9% and after struggling for ages I managed to pay this off and I am now in the process of spending on the card and paying off in full each month so that my credit score improves. Long term goal is for a mortgage, you know how it goes!
I am just making sure that this is something that I should be ok with? The email says
Thanks in advance.

Sorry to be a bit paranoid but it seems odd that they are getting rid of their basic credit card? Is this happening to anybody else?I’d like to keep my current card. Can I opt out?
Unfortunately, the card you currently hold will no longer be available. Because of this, you won't be able to opt out of the move.
Thanks in advance.

It's very common with card providers. Nothing to worry about if there are no significant t&cs changes.0

Thanks, there doesn't seem to be any significant changes. I was just wanting to make sure!

I got this as well.
My situation, my Egg card was paid off in 2009, it was then changed with everyone else to a Barclaycard. But since I paid it off, it has had a zero balance on it.
So, I haven't used the card for 4 - 5 years. Unlike other card providers, which I didn't use for over a year, Barclaycard, seem to want to keep my card open and now this.
It only has a £500 limit on it, which I reduced it to, when I paid it off years ago. I keep it, just in case, a rarity happens when a company will only accept visa credit cards for payment, as it's my only Visa CC.0 -
and you usually use Amex?0

BarclayCard is moving everyone over from cards that they've bought the customers from, to their own products.Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.
ALWAYS HAVE A DIRECT DEBIT SET UP FOR THE MINIMUM PAYMENT ON YOUR CREDIT CARDS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU PLAN TO LOGIN AND PAY EACH MONTH.0
