We are in week 17 and not exchanged yet. We would never pull out as we know we would have to start all over again. I know its hard and very frustrating but keep pushing your EA & solicitor and good luckIf i knew the answers to all the questions i wouldn't be on here

We accepted an offer on the 7th May to FTB and decided to go no chain. Mortgage offer appears to be holding things up, but we only found out after responding to enquiries that the solicitor was being somewhat unprofessional about.
It may be the hold up is on the other side and they are also worried. We always responded quickly but there has been one occasion where it took our solicitor over a week to forward them on, so our buyers may have thought we were being slow but actually within 24 hours of knowing we responded.
Do you know why the first sale collapsed? As hard as it is I always try to give them the benefit of the doubt as it's likely all parties are stressed and have a vested interest in ensuring the chain holds.
We now really appreciate our buyers. It may be slow but they have not been difficult. On the flip side the people we are buying from have squeezed more money from us after accepting our offer, and then going back on it when someone else cruelly offered knowing that although it sold the estate agent legally had to pass that offer on. Problems in week 1 already!
There is being messed around because of the complicated nature of house buying / selling, and there is being messed around because of the nature of your buyer / seller. If it's the former I wouldn't pull out. The latter and I can certainly say it is tempting!
I hope this helps. I certainly understand the concern.0
